It’s Bittersweet Cafe’s Book Birthday!
Today’s the day! Book 2 of the Supper Club series, Brunch at Bittersweet Cafe, is finally here! I’m so excited to share Melody Johansson’s story with you. But fair warning–you’re going to want a cup of tea and your favorite baked goods on hand for this one! Click here to buy your own copy or keep reading for more details!
Here’s a quick look at what it’s about…
Baker and pastry chef Melody Johansson has always believed in finding the positive in every situation, but seven years after she moved to Denver, she can’t deny that she’s stuck in a rut. One relationship after another has ended in disaster, and her classical French training is being wasted on her night job in a mediocre chain bakery. Then the charming and handsome private pilot Justin Keller lands on the doorstep of her workplace in a snowstorm, and Melody feels like it’s a sign that her luck is finally turning around.
Justin is intrigued by the lively bohemian baker, but the last thing he’s looking for is a relationship. His own romantic failures have proven that the demands of his job are incompatible with meaningful connections, and he’s already pledged his life savings to a new business venture across the country—an island air charter in Florida with his sister and brother-in-law.
Against their better judgment, Melody and Justin find themselves drawn together by their unconventional career choices and shared love of adventure. But when an unexpected windfall provides Melody with the chance to open her dream bakery-café in Denver with her best friend, chef Rachel Bishop, she’s faced with an impossible choice: stay and put down roots with the people and place she’s come to call home . . . or give it all up for the man she loves.
Sounds fun, right? Well, the fun’s just beginning! Keep an eye out for fun insider details on the book and chances to win your very own copy, along with some great prizes! Make sure you’re following me at the social media platforms below so you don’t miss out.

Just wondering if any of the desserts mentioned in the book have actual recipes for them? Especially the Butterscotch Bars?

Sadly, no recipes. The main reason is that I live at an altitude of 6000 feet, which has a major effect on baked goods. If I developed recipes for my altitude, they wouldn’t come out right anywhere else, and if I developed them for sea level, I’d have no way of knowing if they worked or not. On top of that, I had to go gluten-free in the middle of writing this book, which really threw a wrench into my baking, as you can imagine!
However, I based the description of that recipe on the White Chocolate Butterscotch Blondies from Bravetart by Stella Parks, if you’d like to give it a shot. Also, the Brown Butter Blondies from Serious Eats is a good bet as well.
